Amherst doctor offering free cataract surgery
Dr. Kenneth D. Anthone, a cataract surgeon, has announced he will offer free surgery to 20 to 25 people as part of his Eyes on America Foundation.
The operations will be performed October 23.
Prospective patients need to obtain pretesting October 8 in his offices at 170 Maple Road, Amherst.
Recipients must be older than 30, U.S. Citizens, on limited income and have poor vision.
Those who meet the requirements should call 634-6100 to schedule a screening.

I just want to extend my sincere thanks for what you have done for me. You did not have to take me for a patient cause I was not from New York, but you did. You have given me a precious git of my sight back. You will never know how much this means to me and being able to lead a normal life again. I also want to let you know what a great staff of people you have working for you. You did not have to take the time out of your day or lives to do this. It is great to se that there are still people in the world that are willing to do for others and help them.
This THANK YOU goes out to everyone on the staff, even if you were not involved in the direct care, you were still there. Everyone had a kind word to say, give you a pat on the back and most important, to explain everything and make me feel relaxed and comfortable. Yesterday I threaded the needle of my sewing machine (without glasses) and proceeded to correct and repair two window shades - following this I completed the sewing of a "fancy" embroidered pilow which had been waiting for my attention!
